By Kangyoku Risshisai, Tokyo, Mid 20th century. One of his humorous studies of a monkey, standing but leaning forward, bent at the waist, and intently engaged in picking something from his teeth. The fine quality ivory is polished and without hair-work, and the eyes are double-inlaid in horn. Signed without reserve, Risshisai, and in an oval reserve, Kangyoku. 2 3/4in (6.9cm).
