Description
By Tadatoshi (circa 1770-1840), Nagoya, Mid 19th century. Tthe bottom half smooth, stained a dark mahogany color, and bearing the himotoshi of unequal size, the top half, realistically stained a lighter tan and entirely covered with an ukibori design of streaks and dots that simulate the texture of the cap, signed in ukibori in a polished rectangular reserve, Tadatoshi. 7/8in (2.2cm). Provenance: The signature only is reproduced in Lazarnick, page 1064.
