Description

A rare and possibly unique 18th century hand-held candle lantern in glazed faience attributed to the dâ€™Olerys workshop in Moustiers, middle to late 18th century, decorated with various characters including a knight with sword and lance, animals dressed as people, stylized birds, flowers and other fauna. The tombstone-shaped opening at the front accommodates a candle with vent holes hidden in the flower decoration above, all surmounted by a finial at top.
