The detailed cast iron match safe with striker and advertising as shown is believed to be for a Burlington, Iowa saloon.

RappoldGeorge Born in Wiescnbach, a small town in the Kingdom of Wurtemberg, Dec. 4, 1826; came to America in 1849, and settled in Waterville, Oncida Co., N.Y., where he was for two years engaged at the cooper business; in 1851, Mr. Rappold spent several months in Connecticut, at the carpenter's trade, and from there went to Georgia, where he worked at his trade of carpenter and joiner until the beginning of the rebellion; during his nineteen years' sojourn in the South, Mr. Kappold was engaged in the grocery and saloon business, working also part of the time at his trade as carpenter; in 1871, he came to Burlington, where he has since been engaged in the saloon business. In 1852, George Rappold and Miss W. Rahner were united in marriage.
