20th century English boulle and brass inlaid Tortoushell and rosewood Inkwell and Pen stand. The tortoiseshell was attached to the hardwood rosewood frame and hand-painted with red lacquer. This piece is attributed to the golden age of french design by incorporating the process of boulle marquetry, first developed by the French cabinetmaker, André-Charles Boulle during the reign of King Louis XIV. This distinguished antique inkwell is a timeless feature of any study or desk standing 9inches x 7 inches x 5 inches at the height of the inkwell.
