Description
Charles-Auguste LeBourg (French, 1820-1906). "Le Travail" Bronze, signed in cast "LeBourg" and further inscribed and titled "Le Travail" [Labor] and "Acquis par La Ville de Paris" [Acquired by the city of Paris] and with dates "1881 15 Fevrier 1906" and depicting a worker with the attributes of construction and labor. 19.5" H x 10" W x 10" D Note: Charles-Auguste Lebourg executed his famous work, "Travail" in 1881 for the École Diderot, an important Trade School in Paris. It was later shown at the 1885 Paris Salon and the Paris Exposition Universelle (1889). This cast was issued in 1906 which was both the 25th anniversary of the sculpture's commission, and also the year of the artist's death.
