Description
Magna Graecia, South Italic Colonies, Apulia, Xenon, ca. 340 to 325 BCE. A wheel-thrown pottery mug of apple-shaped form that is densely decorated with registers of light orange linear motifs. The vessel exhibits frets surrounding the shoulder as well as rectangular boxes around the body filled with either Xs or spiraling bands. Every remaining area is enveloped in lustrous black glaze that has developed faint areas of silvery iridescence. Size: 2.875" W x 3.25" H (7.3 cm x 8.3 cm)
