Description
Native American, Northwestern United States, Northwest Alaska, ca. 19th century CE. A hand-carved wooden doll or idol figure with a simplified body and large head. Such carvings may have been used as dolls or protective charms and were often dressed in parkas and clothing made of fur and leather. The Inuit have an ancient tradition - at least 1000 years long - of making dolls both as playthings and as good luck charms or guardians. Size: 5.75" L x 1.5" W (14.6 cm x 3.8 cm)
