Ancient Eastern Mediterranean, Phoenician or Carthage, ca. 400 BCE to 400 CE. A cobalt glass bird with yellow trails encircling the body - the perfect size for a charm, and the back once had a loop for suspension to wear as a pendant. Birds are highly symbolic throughout many cultures of the classical world and glass charms or amulets such as this were often worn to ward off evil and promote good luck and protection.
