Japanese Woodblock Print, 1929, self-carved, self-published.
SIZE IN INCHES: 8.5 x 11.25
COMMENTS: Boldly printed in "semi-sosaku hanga" style with skillful "bokashi" shading, light "gauffrage" embossing, visible woodgrain. Between 1930 and 1934 Kiyoshi is known to have designed 13 prints, seven of which were self-published, including his famous "Tipsy" mogu-hanga image. Twelve of Kiyoshi's prints were shown at the 1936 "Toledo Exhibition." These 3 uncatalogued designs have been authenticated by a well-respected Tokyo print dealer and by Tokyo's Sakai Museum.
