Description
Original WWI Stone Litho Poster for the United War Work Campaign Ordered by Woodrow Wilson for Soldier Morale Programs. "His Home Over There" is the title of this beautiful stone litho poster for the United War Work Campaign painted by Albert Herter. The campaign lasted from November 11–18, 1918, and was a one-week fundraising drive to aid U.S. soldiers during the lengthy demobilization that would follow World War I. President Woodrow Wilson requested that aid organizations pool their efforts on a single campaign for soldier morale programs "in order that the spirit of the country in this matter may be expressed without distinction of race or religious opinion in support of what is in reality a common service" This stone lithograph, 27 x 42" shows a group of soldiers approaching a warmly lit YMCA facility at night in the snow. This is by far the most beautiful of the number of different posters produced for this campaign. Examined in frame, poster has fold lines and creases that have been flattened with scattered hairline tears and fold lines visible but no paper missing. Most importantly, absolutely no fading and the colors are exceptionally vivid. Very handsomely framed to 30 x 45" and presents beautifully. Estimated Value $500 - 800
