Title: Pair Historic Vinoy Hotel Lobby Murano Art Glass Sconces 30 Inch

Description: Pair Historic Vinoy Hotel Lobby Murano Art Glass Sconces 30 Inch. One of 11 lots of hand-blown Italian art glass lighting fixtures from the Vinoy Renaissance Resort pre-War grand lobby, the prominent downtown St. Petersburg hotel designated by the National Trust For Historic Preservation as one of the Historic Hotels of America. This lot is comprised of two wall sconces each featuring two electric bulb lights and two layers of hand-blown organic Murano glass festoons. Each spectacular sconce is comprised of 22 separate art glass elements and measures approximately 30.5 x 15 x 14 inches overall. The Vinoy has been a long-time supporter of Tampa Bay projects and is currently undergoing a spectacular renovation the lobby design that included these lighting fixtures were in place until 2022 as part of a tribute to international glass artist Dale Chihuly who has a studio museum in downtown St. Petersburg. These sconces illuminated the Chihuly sculpture installation in the center of the Vinoy lobby. The manufacturer of these sconces has not yet been identified and the installation date we surmise as the turn of the 20th-21st century. Please see both additional sconce lots and magnificent chandelier elsewhere in this auction.

Important condition notes
The sconces were removed from the lobby and carefully individually foam wrapped by Vinoy staff and personally removed from the property by our staff. Overall condition is excellent as discovered untouched architectural de-installed. Note that the first image in our listing is an in situ photograph of one of the items taken at the Vinoy. The subsequent photos of the various component parts are of one sample sconce taken by our staff. Since there are two sconces per lot there are twice as many component pieces as illustrated. We inspected the component parts of every sconce and except for a separate partial lot unrelated to this lot we found no significant damage note that there is epoxy residue on the metal seats of the set in arms and organic drapes and the expected wall paint spatter and overspray to the rear bowl components. The central vertical fixture component connecting rods are present however wall bolts are not included. Since these are hardwire lamps the wiring has not been tested for working order and should be installed by a licensed electrician. It was not feasible to photograph the component parts of each sconce and no individual lot condition reports are available. Because we are illustrating a sample lot the buyer of this lot has the right to visit our office or send a representative and verify their satisfaction prior to pick up or UPS, et cetera shipper pick up. Once the items are picked up or collected by a shipper they are sold as is without return privilege.
