Pair of hanging scrolls with Chinese calligraphy. The calligraphy is particularly elegant. This type of scrolls are placed and displayed at the entrance or in the first room of the house, as a way of welcome. The one we are now bidding for is a gift from a family acquaintance praising the virtues of the inhabitants of the house. They are also used in academies and schools, which used to display messages of encouragement or sayings.
