Description
A silver and gold white buffalo woman shrine in silver, 18K, 22K and 24K gold, turquoise, pipestone and carnelian. Buffalo on front opens to reveal the shrine. One legend of the Heyoka is as follows: "Long ago two young men were crossing the plains in the center of the land they called Turtle Island, which we now have named America. They saw a person approaching them from a distance, and soon they could see a beautiful woman dressed in white buckskin. She came holding the pipe in her hands. She taught them to honor everything in the universe, when tobacco is put into the pipe. The pipe was to be an altar and the center of their ceremonies. As the woman walked away, she turned into a white buffalo." Marked "Heyoka." Condition: No dents, scratches or repairs.Condition:(Excellent).Dimensions:4 - 1/2" x 3" x 1".
