This lot contains an original oil painting on board by the late Haitian artist Jasmine Joseph. Joseph was originally both a painter and sculptor until he learned that his works were being copied and sold to profit the thief. Joseph then switched to exclusively to painting. He was a deeply religious person and focused mainly on biblical scenes and animal paintings. Joseph once said that Christ bringing others food represents a new hope for them. This scene depicts Jesus Christ sitting on a rock under a large fruit tree while gathering grapes etc. The work is approx 33 1/2" x 26 1/2" and weighs about 5.5lbs. It is signed and dated from 1965 in the bottom left corner. The board and painting are in good vintage condition. There is a small chip on the left corner of the board.
