(3 piece) French Napoleon III gilt and patinated bronze and marble mantel set, 19th c., including: (1) shelf clock, surmounted by an allegory of learning, enamel dial with cobalt Roman numeral hour markers, inscribed J.P. Marchand a Paris, time-and-strike movement, approx 25"h, 22"w, 10"d, (2) candelabra, approx 33"h, 16"diam Start Price: $2,000.00

Condition

11.29.22--In my opinion regarding LOT 1368 â€“ clock: The clock case is intact, marble shows, some typical very small chips, and abrasions, particularly along edges and corners, thereâ€™s a small stable hairline at back base and possible filled area by left leg back, metal shows some rubs to patina, surface wear and inherent imperfections I observe some hairlines in the trailing vines behind figure, no loose or missing pieces observed
The bell and pendulum appear to be added, the clock works but stops after about 3 minutes, it may need to be cleaned Both candelabra stand sturdy, they are intact with some small stable repairs to leaves and branches, see images, and typical light chipping and abrasions, particularly along edges, metal shows some rubs and wear to patina
Candle 1- the base displays a small hairline at back where the putti is mounted, it travels through to the other side, see images this corner also appears to have the metal mount in a different paint tone, possibly a repaired addition?, see image Candle 2- as described above
