Egypt, New Kingdom, probably 18th Dynasty ca. 1550-1292 B.C..Clay. H. 36.3 cmElongated vessel with an ovoid body and a high, slightly flared collar neck. The entire vessel is divided into registers of different heights by horizontal lines. Painted decoration in red, blue and black: various triangles and lotus flowers; two bands of hieroglyphs below the shoulder. A small chip missing from the lip, painting abraded in places (partly heavily restored), otherwise undamaged.From the estate of René Kern, Biel, Switzerland; sold by Galartis auction house, Lausanne. Thereafter priv. coll. Bülach, Switzerland.
