Description
A scarce etching by Conrad Johnson (American, 1842-1910), a notable artist who served for the Confederacy during the Civil War. Titled "The Paganini of New Kent, Virginia" and dated March 21, 1863.
In good condition. Print has some scuffs and light foxing.
From the estate and lifelong collection of William Garrett Hodges (1946-2014). Hodges was a Virginia-based dealer of fine arts, with specialization in prints and rare books, having collected for decades. He supplied and consulted various groups on antiquities throughout his career, including the White House, the Vice President's residence, the FBI, and multiple film and television series.
