Etching and engraving by John Sturt (1658-1730) after Robert Inglish (active 1714). Printed and sold by Thomas Bowles, London, also included in a later impression of Brittania Illustrata. Published 1724.
20 x 28 inches. Overall good condition. Three vertical creases that have been patched verso, which are splitting in the margins. Very light foxing, as well as toning near edges.
From the estate and lifelong collection of William Garrett Hodges (1946-2014). Hodges was a Virginia-based dealer of fine arts, with specialization in prints and rare books, having collected for decades. He supplied and consulted various groups on antiquities throughout his career, including the White House, the Vice President's residence, the FBI, and multiple film and television series.
