A copy is presented at the Louvre Museum in the collection of the Department of Sculptures from the Middle Ages, the Renaissance and modern times. Antoine-Louis Barye was a sculptor of animal subjects and acclaimed as the founder of what became known as the French Animaliers School. Among his patrons were representatives of the state government and royalty including the Duke of Orleans and the Dukes of Luynes, Montpensier and Nemours.
