**First Time At Auction**
Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A singular earring shaped from a flattened strip of 96% gold (equivalent to 22K+) with its original, integral loop and hook visible on the open side. The accessory is made wearable via a modern sterling silver ear wire plated with 14K gold. Earrings like these would have been worn by high status women who would have treasured their jewelry - as this was some of the only private property elite women could own that was separate from her husband's assets. Size: 0.74" W x 1.18" H (1.9 cm x 3 cm); 1.75" H (4.4 cm) with included ear wire; gold quality: 96% (equivalent to 22K+); total weight: 2.4 grams
