Description
Set of 9 Engravings Titled Eskimaux Life Drawn by Capt G.F. Lyon, Engraved by Edward Finden. Drawn during an expedition in 1821-1822 in search of the North-West Passage. Lyon was the captain of the ship H.M.S. HECLA and was second in command to William Edward Parry. Measuring 17 x 11.5 inches. Engravings titled Eskimaux Listening at a Seal-hole; Group of Eskimaux at Igloolik; Sledges of the Eskimaux; Groupe of Eskimaux; Eskimaux Children Dancing Igloolik, 1823; An Eskimaux of Igloolik In a bird-skin jacket Carrying his canoe down to the water; Manner of Holding the Line, When a Walrus is Stuck; Group of Eskimaux 1822; Interior of an Eskimaux Snow Hut, Winter Island 1822. All published by John Murray 1824 in London. Minor staining, discoloration to paper. Please see photos.
