Description
Rare hunting tankard with pewter mounting Dippoldiswalde, around 1660 Black-brown, partly scaled wall with relief overlays, decorated in bright enamel colors and gold. Frontal cartouche flanked by reclining deer with bust portrait of a princess, on each side a scene with driver and three hunting dogs, attacking a bear. Above ornamental border. Band handle. Lip rim min. restored. Stand ring, two straps and relief lid made of pewter. H. 17,8 cm Provenance: Collection Prof. Rudolf Leopold, Vienna. Lit.: Horschik, Steinzeug, p. 241, a comparable hunting jug, there still listed as Annaberger Steinzeug.
