Item Details

Description

Ca. mid to third quarter 19thC. Very good cosmetic condition with no breaks, cracks, repairs or missing pieces. The unmarked movement is working, however, not guaranteed to keep accurate time. Very intricate bronze casts throughout, with dolphin feet supporting bronze putti and gilt dore bronze birds. Attributed to Japy Freres & Cie. However a similar clock has been identified as made by Maison Deniere. Both French firms were makers of very high quality clocks. This large clock measures approx. 30" tall by 20" wide(!), and is quite heavy.
