Description
PROVENANCE:

From the Collections of Franklin Wood (1924-2019) Cartersville, GA. Franklin was born in a small farmhouse near White GA in 1924. After spending his early childhood on the family farm the family moved to the City of Cartersville where he attended school graduating in 1942. Franklin entered the Navy as a cadet aviator. On March 3, 1943, John was commissioned an Ensign and received his Wings of Gold, becoming one of the Navy's youngest naval aviators. In 1947, Franklin was retired from the Navy. He was a civilian flight instructor, supervisor and squadron commander in the Primary Training Squadron Flying Training Air Force. He met his wife Ying Su while she was attending flight training safety courses. Ying Su came from a prominent family in China. Her family blessed her marriage with numerous pieces of porcelains and Jade. The items in this sale are from her collection.

Pair of Chinese Qing Dynasty Period Rosewood Palace Lantern. Chinese Zitan with gold painted dragon pattern palace lantern .This pair of Zitan palace lanterns is decorated with gold painted carp around lampshades. Its exterior appearance pursues consistence of top and bottom. The palace lamp was created during the Eastern Han Dynasty, blossomed in the Sui and Tang dynasties, and flourished in the Qianlong period. It is an important decoration of the palace. Clue to the fact that it was used for the palace for a long term, apart from the lighting feature, it also deserve to elaborate adornment, in order to show the wealth and luxury of the emperor.

Over all in EXCELLENT condition, with normal anomalies in nature, natural wood imperfection, sign of stressed surface, minor scratch & dent; Normal consider ages and wears.
