Description
TEXTILES: Jacquard-woven coverlet, 1849, with a design of floral rosettes and stars, worked in stripes of salmon, pale olive green, and navy blue wool supplementary wefts, and with white cotton warp and structural wefts, seamed up the center, corner block reads "PHILLIP. MICHAEL. / SUSQUE HANNA. TOWNSHIP. / DA CO 1849 / for MARYAN. MOORE". [Philip Michael was born in Pennsylvania about 1795; his previously known extant coverlets are dated from 1835 to 1846, so this is the latest coverlet of Michael's yet identified.]
