MEISSEN PORCELAIN DINING SET "BLUE ONION", 51 PCS
Porcelain dining set includes: 12 soup plates, 17 dinner plates, 12 salad plates, 2 tea cups, 2 tea cup plates, 1 coffee pot, 1 big oval serving plate, 1 medium rectangular serving plate, 1 serving bowl, 1 tea strainer, 1 salt bowl, the famous Crossed Swords of Meissen underglaze mark, used since 1888, can be found at the foot of the bamboo stalk.
In 1739, Meissen discovered a unique combination of cobalt and oxygen by that resulted in the ability to create rich blues that would survive the extreme heat of porcelain firing. The first pattern to use this new color was Blue Onion, inspired by East Asian motifs of pomegranates, peaches, bamboo, lotus blossoms, and chrysanthemums.
