Two Martta Taipale (Finnish, 1893-1966) hand-woven textiles, one titled "The Face" and depicting a polychrome face, signed, and inscribed "Finland" to reverse, the other of three colorful faces, both with gold thread accents. Larger: 15.25" H x 22" W. Note: Martta Taipale taught artist Lenore Tawney (American, 1907-2007) tapestry design in 1954. Some of Taipale's works are housed at the Art Institute of Chicago.
