North Carolina Late Federal Walnut Step-Back Flat-Wall Cupboard
second half 19th century, East Bend, Yadkin County, one piece form, yellow pine secondary, applied stepped cornice, two upper hinged doors with six window lights each, molded mullions, shelved interior, above two lower hinged paneled cabinet doors, shelved interior, straight tapered feet from the stile.
79 x 43.75 (case width 40.5) x 17.75 in.
Family history supports the cabinet maker to be William D. Steele (1829-1914), who also served in the NC 6th Infantry, Confederate Army.
