Description
"The Southern Hospitality Cookbook" by Winifred Green Cheney, published by Oxmoor House, Birmingham, Alabama, 1976.
Illustrated hard boards, [a little wear, slightly stained spine: see photo]; large: 7.1/2" x 10"; colored endpapers, 294 pages including Index, color and monochrome illustrations, very good condition.
More than seven hundred fifty recipes, for dishes, courses, and garnishes and ranging from hors d'oeuvres to jellies, provide a comprehensive inventory of Southern culinary favorites.
"I bought this because I grew up in Jackson, MS where Mrs. Cheney lived and entertained. She included a forward by one of my favorite authors, Eudora Welty, who lived down the street from Mrs, Cheney in a lovely old part of town. The recipes bring back memories, and a few of them I will use repeatedly. It tells a great deal about how fine Southern women used to cook and entertain. The recipes are company fare--not the turnip greens and cornbread I grew up with." [a private review]
Note:
Country restrictions may apply - the lesser expansive Priority shipping may not be available to all countries.
US: Priority (c.2-8 days) ----------------- $12.50
Canada: Priority (c.2-6 weeks) ------- $32.50
World: Priority (c.2-8 weeks) -------- $44.50
