Additional Information: “The Cabinet of Natural History and American Rural Sports” by J. & T. Doughty published in Philadelphia 1830-34 contains lithographs of American animals in natural settings, many associated with hunting. Thomas Doughty (1793-1856), part of the Hudson River school, was the first American artist to devote himself to landscape painting. All the images with landscape in this work were his and his name is in the plate. The lithographs were hand-colored at the time. The deer is the only engraved image in the series.
