Description
Native American, Southeastern United States, Mississippian culture, ca. 1000 to 1500 CE. A pair of highly polished stone tools, both a miniature size with a cylindrical in shape with rounded ends, perhaps used as roller-type pestles. These are silky smooth to the touch - years of use from polishing or grinding other stones or even crushing ingredients for food or pigments. Size: 1.75" L x 0.5" W (4.4 cm x 1.3 cm)
Provenance: private Kansas City, Missouri, USA collection, ex-John Townsend collection, formed in the 1970s and earlier.
