BIOGRAPHY:
An art professor at the University of Idaho for 33 years, Dunn passed on his sensitivity as well as techniques to hundreds of watercolorists, some of whom today are active artists and teachers. His last group of students started the Watercolor Socious, which is thriving today.Dunn received his master of fine arts at the Oakland School of Arts and Crafts. Every painting has a story. From growing up in Twin Falls, Idaho, to working as a sign painter, and even panning for gold, he has has led what he describes as "a riotous life." The watercolor he is working on now is of an old elegant house with a for sale sign in front of it.The titles of his pieces are intended to make people think, to make them do a bit of research.Research is not new to him. As an illustrator and commercial artist in Seattle for many years, he knew he'd be called on details, so he made certain to know things like which end of a sheepherder's wagon was the right exit in 1924 (back), since once they were put on rubber tires. The exit was in the front. This attention to detail is another reason Dunn is a nationally known painter. His watercolors are in corporate and private collections all over the world.
