Description
A rare, early etching with aquatint by Jim Leedy (American, 1930-2021) titled in pencil "Figure Landscape," lower left, and signed, lower right. Matted in a mid-century wood frame. The heavily worked scene depicts a group of figures, one on horseback, in a hilly terrain with trees. With exhibition history printout affixed to reverse of frame. Sight: 18" H x 24" W. Frame: 24" H x 32" W. Exhibition history: Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, 1959; Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, 1959. Biographical note: Originally from McRoberts, Kentucky, Jim Leedy is best known as a sculptor and ceramicist but also worked as a painter, printmaker, performance, and mixed media artist. He is celebrated for bringing Abstract Expressionist ideas to the world of ceramics. Leedy taught at the Kansas City Art Institute from 1966 until his retirement in 2008.

Condition
Condition is good although extensive foxing is present throughout the entire image, especially visible around the plate mark. Not examined outside of frame.
