Jerusalem, birds eye view. 1686 By B. Stoopendaal. Amsterdam. Published in Keur Bible. Based on the earlier work of Villalpando interpretations, this view is based on the Book of Ezekiel by the famous Roman era first century. Jewish historian Flavius Josephus. Oriented with west on top, shows the temple of Solomon with its courtyard, city wall and city of David. Surrounding the main city plan are multiple decorative elements. On top is a large ornate imagined third temple of Solomon, an arch of the covenant, a menorah, the tabernacle, altar of burnt offerings, statue of Solomon, an altar, statue of the high priest, among other symbols. On the bottom is the plan of the temple Ezechiels. Dutch text on verso. Hand-colored copper plate engraved. Overall very good condition. Center fold reinforced. 19 x 16 inches.
