Depicts three roosters oriented in varying positions. Chagall studied under Jewish artist Yehuda Pen before studying in St. Petersburg. As WWII went into full swing, the Museum of Modern Art invited Chagall and his family to come to the United States, Chagall was reluctant to go but after being rescued from a Jewish round up by a friend they fled. After the war, Chagall settled in France where he lived out the rest of his days.
