Majestic Bamileke Chief's Chair or Throne, very sturdy, with four carved African tribal figures forming the legs of the chair all set on a circular base. AS IS, very good condition overall but with a few age cracks (see photos #11, 19, 20).The Bamileke is the ethnic group now dominant in Cameroon's West and Northwest Provinces. This one-of-a-kind chair was made for an important chief in the early 1900s, whose power would have been emphasized by this obvious display of prestige during important ceremonies.
