Pre-Columbian, Southern Mexico to Guatemala, Maya, early Postclassic Period, ca. 900 to 1100 CE. A hand-built plumbate ware jar with an apple-shaped body and flared spout, all covered in characteristically lustrous glaze. The orange-hued vessel is decorated with a pair of incised bands across the exterior of the rim as well as another pair encircling the shoulder. Size: 5.2" Diameter x 5.25" H (13.2 cm x 13.3 cm)
Provenance: ex-Marc Amiguet Schmitt estate, Amiguet's Ancient Art, Evansville, Indiana, USA, acquired prior to January 1, 2010

Minor abrasions and nicks, with a few small spalls, otherwise intact and very good. Great preservation to glaze luster.
