Native American / First Nations, Pacific Northwest Coast, United States or Canada, ca. late 20th century CE. A hand-carved red cedar miniature dugout canoe resting on a flat base with a characteristic upturned prow and rear stern. The exterior is incised with traditional formline motifs and abstract bird heads at prow and stern - likely ravens or eagles. The surface is a lovely red-brown and in overall excellent display condition. Size: 20" L x 2" W x 3.25" H (50.8 cm x 5.1 cm x 8.3 cm)
Provenance: ex-private Bishop Family Trust collection, the Trust of the late Bill Bishop, a noted antiquarian with shops in Scottsdale, Arizona and Allenspark, Colorado, USA, acquired before 2010
