J. Kinney (British 19th century), "The Wyoming Off Of A Lighthouse", 1880, oil on canvas, maritime painting depicting the double masted steamship S.S. Wyoming flying the British Red Ensign and flag of the United States of America, signed and dated at lower right.
Provenance: Sold New York Christie's East February 13, 1997, sale 7975, Maritime, lot 140. Note: The 3729 ton S.S. Wyoming was constructed in 1870 for the Liverpool & Great Western Steamship Company by the Palmer's Shipbuilding & Iron Co., Ltd. and scrapped in 1893. Thought she flew under a British flag the ship was primarily American owned.
Canvas approx. h. 18.125", w. 36.125"; Overall h. 23", w. 41.25", d. 1.5".

Canvas has been lined, craquelure, minor scattered inpainting, varnish has darkened with a hazy green layer visible under ultraviolet light, canvas is rubbed at right and lower edges, area of loss approx. 5.5" from lower left corner, paint
