"ANTIQUE VENEITAN HAND-PAINTED FAN IN NEOCLASSICAL SHADOW BOX FRAME, FROM THE ""GRAND TOUR"" ERAThis is an antique, 18th century folding hand fan from Venice, Italy, hand painted on parchment with reticulated pierce cut bone spines. The antique, Neoclassical style, shadow box frame is from the early late 18th to early 19th century.
Fans of this sort are from the ""Grand Tour"" era, when wealthy young aristocrats would travel across Europe for a year or more, purchasing souvenirs items, such as this folding hand fan, during their travels.

Condition
Gilt-painted gesso ribbon is loose from frame. Frame binding is also loose but would be easy to repair. Glass is in nice condition. Fan itself is in excellent condition. See photos.
