Bankston, Alabama, c. 1990, paint on natural gourd, with wire hanger, ht. 16 in.
Provenance: The Outsider and Folk Art Collection of Gene and Judy Kohn. Purchased from the Berenberg Gallery, Massachusetts, July 2009.
Note: Born in Alabama, Perkins spent most of his working life as a government employee in Washington D.C. In the late 1960s, Brother Ben returned to Alabama to begin a career as a preacher and artist.
