Description
Vintage hand painted Toby creamer, green mark "Paramount Pottery Co. LTD. England" and a blind impressed mark "KSP England" [Staffordshire, 1950s-1960s]
The creamer is 4" [10.2cm] tall; 2.1/4" x 2.1/2" [5.7cm x 6.4cm] at top; 4.1/2" [11.4cm] wide with the handle, hand painted under glaze, crackle over-glaze, very good condition.
Paramount Pottery was established by Charles Griffith Bowers In 1946. The Paramount Pottery was the base for C.G. Bower's acquisition of other pottery companies who all became part of the KSP (Keele Street Pottery Group). In 1950 the group changed its name to Staffordshire Potteries Limited.
Paramount Pottery became a production unit of Staffordshire Potteries but continued to operate from Hanley. In the 1956 'Pottery Gazette Paramount' Pottery were listed as a 'member of the K.S.P. group'. They were still operating from the Ranelagh Street in Hanley. In the 1960s , C.G. Bowers continued to be the Chairman and Managing Director of Paramount Pottery Co. Ltd. - 'a member of the K.S.P. group'.
