Union Soldier Carte de Visite Photograph Wearing an 1864 Ferrotype Abraham Lincoln Presidential Campaign Pinback
c. 1864 Civil War, Carte de Visite Photograph showing a Union Soldier (Kentucky) wearing a large Silk Ribbon with an 1864 ferrotype Abraham Lincoln Presidential Campaign Pinback, H. Doerr, Star Gallery, 231 Main St., Louisville, KY., Very Fine.
This very rare Civil War Era Carte de Visite measures about 2.5" x 4". Image shows a Union soldier (Kentucky) wearing an 1864 ferrotype Abraham Lincoln presidential campaign pin. Back stamp of Star Gallery, Louisville, Ky. Some loss along the image far right border edge from apparent wear. Overall, nice contrast and clarity to the image where one can identify his wearing American Eagle buttons on his coat, and a large highly decorative Lincoln Presidential Campaign Badge that has Five-Strands being a Multiple Silk Ribbon. There is a clearly seen metal Spreadwing American Eagle at top, attached by a loop at bottom to a round ferrotype assumed to be that of Abraham Lincoln, though his image is not clearly visible, identified previously on the verso written in pencil "Lincoln ferro".
