Description
Superb set of relics from the uniform of Field Marshal Henry M. Wilson. The ribbon bar shows Wilson was awarded the Distinguished Service Order, Queen’s Medal for South Africa, 1914 Star, Victory Medal with a dispatch emblem, Africa Star, Italy Star, France-Germany Star, War Order of Virtuti Militari, Order of Military Merit 1st Class (Brazil), Distinguished Service Medal, Legion of Merit (Chief Commander), War Cross, and more. Ribbons are displayed on white cardboard, 7.5 x 5 in., with a list of all the awards and a note stating that they were ‘Ribbons worn by Fieldmarshal Sir Maitland Wilson’ and presented by Wilson on March 5, 1947. Accompanied by a T.L.S., 1p. 4to., Washington, March 5, 1947, from Wilson’s personal aide JOHN M. MILLER in which he expresses his regret for not sending the ribbons sooner as he had promised. Sold with two newspaper clippings featuring Miller.
