Description
(1893 – 1989) Canadian World War I ace, credited with 54 victories. Rare typed war-date D.S. signed by two squadron commanders, 1p. tall 4to., Mar. 21, 1918, a combat report of MacLaren’s victorious engagement with enemy planes of his triple victory on that day. In part: '...Whilst on special low bombing operations and reconnaissance, having released my bombs, I was returning towards the lines at 4:15 am...I saw just below me an L.V.G. going East. I dived on its tail, firing about 100 rds., E.A. went into a spin and I saw him crash hopelessly just on the West corner of Douai...', with more similar content. Signed in pencil at bottom, along with RUPERT H. S. MEALING (1893-1962), commanding officer of the 46 Squadron. Very good.
