Description
World War I English Brody helmet, issued to a member of the U.S. 91st Infantry Division. The helmet bears a heavy application of sand-laced green paint, and the division's emblem, a green pine tree with the stenciled number '91' has been applied to the front. Cracking in the white paint in the number is commensurate with age. Within, the helmet bears its original liner, but only a portion of the original leather strap. Overall very good. Serving under the U.S. Army's V Corps, the division fought in the Meuse-Argonne Offensive and successfully helped to destroy the German First Guard Division and continued to smash through three successive enemy lines. Twelve days before the end of World War I, the division, as part of the VII Corps of the French Sixth Army, helped drive the Germans east across the Escaut River in the Battle of the Lys and the Escaut.
