Description
A rare relic of the 369th Infantry 'Harlem Hellfighters', a 1.5 in. cast bronze shield shaped fob and leather strap, the fob reading '369 INF. A.E.F.' with '15' appearing behind two crossed rifles. The attached leather strap measures approx. 9 in. long. This relic is accompanied by an original photograph of a group of armed men from the famous regiment, arranged in three rows. Also present is a retained copy of a T.L.S., 1p. 8vo., 1975 sent by a writer to Hamilton Fish III (1888-1991), who served as a major in the 369th and was a Silver Star recipient, asking his assistance in identifying the men in the photograph. Photo bears a chip at the left, else very good.
