Pair of anti-KKK postcards, 5.5 x 3.5 in., Florida, 1966, sent less than a month apart. The first features two Klan members in uniform drinking at a bar, reading: ‘Klansman Which Klan Leaders are spending your money tonight? Think!’. The second card depicts a Klan member holding a sheet over their face and reading: ‘Klansman Trying to hide your identity behind your sheet? You received this – Someone knows who you are!’. Fine. Postcards like these two were sent out by the National Committee for Domestic Tranquility, a fabricated committee concocted by those of the COINTELPRO program of the FBI. Through this committee the FBI accused Klan members of being informants, released fake pictures, and even managed to attack them financially. These relentless assaults led to high paranoia among members of the KKK. Sold with an unidentified display card, believed to be connected with the National Committee for Domestic Tranquility.
