Description
(1710-1774) King of France whose extravagant habits nearly bankrupted the government, settled the Seven Years War which resulted in the loss of most of France's colonial empire, and ruled during a low point in French prestige on the Continent. Secretarially-signed document ‘Louis’, 7pp. folio parchment, [n.p.], 1773, in French (untranslated), a list of salaries for those involved in the tobacco trade. Bound by brown string at top and bottom. Signed on final page by seven officials, including French Chancellor RENE DE MAUPEOU (1714-1792) and Finance Minister JOSEPH-MARIE TERRAY (1715-1778). Spotting throughout, toning constrained to edges. Overall, very good.
